Nigeria: Kaduna to Build Independent Power Project

In a bid to industrialise the state, Kaduna State government is collaborating with investors to set up Independent Power Projects (IPP) across the state.

This was disclosed at the Lagos International Trade Fair by Governor Mohammed Namadi Sambo who was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Yohanna Chindo.

According to the governor, the project, if faithfully pursued, would substantially reduce the state's dependence on the epileptic national grid which has been the bane of industrialisation in the country.

He disclosed that land has been allocated to one of such investors, adding that the state government has already established Kachia Food company for ginger processing, Zaria Pharmaceutical Company (disposable syringe manufacturing) Kafanchan Flour Mills and Ikara Food Processing Company as part of measures to industrialise the state.

Sambo maintained that the state government was collaborating with SMEDAN on entrepreneurship development program me as well as the establishment of business support centre in order to alleviate poverty in the state.

He also said that the state has launched "Operation Yaki" which provides adequate security for investor's in the state.

The governor further disclosed that the government made available huge sums of money through the micro finance banks for farmers to boost agricultural production, adding that fertilizers were released to all communities to enhance production.
