Sokoto — Police Service Commission says the commission is poised to redeeming the stained image of the police force public estimation as he emphatically confirmed the rot in the system. He added that the police and it systematic structure was sick in all respect.

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mr. Parry Osayande, disclosed this last week. He made the observation, while granting audience to journalists in Sokoto shortly before departure from the seat of the caliphate where he toured formations in the zone. Osayande said the commission was undoubtfully beaming its searchlight on the police to ensure absolute monitoring in terms of due process with regards to administrative duties as promotion, discipline and operational postings with a view to actualising sustainable reform agenda and policy framework that would stand the test of challenges within the system.

He also noted that the Nigerian Police was the least paid force within the West African sub-region," if I may say compared to others anywhere in the world", he added.

He attributed the long emerging ugly trend that polarised the functions of the police force to long neglect hatched by the military, pointing out that there had been persistent underfunding which failed to conform with the requirement of the force with regards to their barracks and other relevant necessities. "They have been living in dilapidated structures for years".
