PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda has called for teamwork among the ministers in his administration to ensure the Government fulfills the promises made to the people of Zambia.
Mr Banda said in Lusaka yesterday that deputy and Cabinet ministers should work together as one team to address various issues affecting the people.
The president said this when he swore in eleven members of his Cabinet including Vice-President and Justice Minister, George Kunda and some deputy ministers at State House.
"We have to truly work together and fulfill what we promised the people. If we work together as a team we will move this country forward," Mr Banda said after swearing in part of his team.
Apart from Mr Kunda, others sworn in yesterday were Finance and National Planning Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane, Sports, Youth and Child Development Minister, Kenneth Chipungu and Local Government and Housing Minister, Ben Tetamashimba.
Others were Mines Minister, Maxwell Mwale, Labour and Social Security Minister, Austin Liato, Deputy Finance and National Planning Minister, Chileshe Kapwepwe and Deputy Sports, Youth and Child Development Minister, Christopher Kalila.
Deputy Tourism Minister, Moses Mwangala, Eastern Province Minister, Isaac Banda and his counterpart for North-Western Province, Joseph Mulyata, were also sworn in during a ceremony attended by most Cabinet and deputy ministers.
Mr Banda said those appointed to serve in his administration should adhere to their oaths and remain loyal to Zambia, the Zambians and to him as Republican president.
He said he had much confidence in all his ministers and expected that they would all work hard to help develop the country saying: "I have no doubt that we can make it if we work together."
Mr Banda announced his new Cabinet last week on Friday following his election as Zambia's fourth Republican president.
