Sierra Leone: Volleyball - Rokel, MGHS Set Sight on Title

Government Rokel Secondary School boys have vowed to retain their title as senior secondary schools volley ball champions, while the girls of Methodist Girls High School (MGHS) said they are desperate to take back the title.

After an ease victory on Friday over Government Technical School, the Rokel boys look sharp to retain their title no matter who they would be facing in the grand final.

In a confident mood, attacking player, Abubakar Kamara told Concord Sports they have the squad to retain their title.

"We are determined to retain and defend our title and I believe in my teammates and the coach. We have the squad to even win it next year," Kamara said.

Rokel defeated Government Technical School in three straight sets, 25:19, 25:18 and 25:20 in a best of five sets match.

While Rokel boys are confident to retain their title after two years, MHGS girls want to take the girls trophy back home.

After a hard fought victory over the defending champions Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) on Friday, MHGS' captain Francess Lansana said this was their time to lift the title again.

"We fought hard to defeat the defending champions; we can now go and crush any obstacle," Lansana told Concord Sports.

In a five set battle on Friday, the defending champions FSSG went on to win the first set 25:20, but the 2006 champions MHGS went on to win the second set 25:20.

FSSG replied with a win in the third sets 25:21, but MGHS won the fourth sets 25:22 as the game went to the decider in a best of 15 which MGHS narrowly won 15:13.
