Bissau — The head of the Portuguese Speaking Community (CPLP) observer mission for Guinea Bissau's parliamentary election, Angolan Norberto dos Santos "Kwata-Kanawa", Sunday here expressed satisfaction at the way the voting process went.
Kwata-Kanawa congratulated the Guinean people and all political parties involved in the electoral process on the high level of civic attitude showed during the November 16 voting that ran from 07:00 am to 05:00 pm of Sunday.
The politician, who is also Angola's ruling MPLA party information secretary, praised the organisational work carried out by the local National Electoral Commission (CNE) as well as by other institutions involved in the process, which contributed to the success of
both the campaign and the poll.
According to him, this view is backed by the European Union observer mission led by John Van Hecke, that considered the election as "excellent".
According to Norberto dos Santos, the European Union as the main donor for the general budget of Guinea Bissau has added responsibilities toward the country.
The politician also noted that CPLP mission will transmit to the CPLP Secretariat recommendations on the need for assistance to the winning party and the government with starting the national reconciliation process.
