Huambo — The United States Agency for International Development (Usaid) acting director, Victor Duarte, over the weekend considered as positive the promotion of Health Fair that serves to strengthen the population's disease prevention methods.
Addressing the closing of the Health Fair, held in central Huambo province, the official warned the presents, who were celebrating life, saying prevention of disease is a responsibility of each and everyone.
To him, in the present stage of Angola's development, the components of prevention of disease and service quality are two basic priorities.
Usaid started its health projects in Angola in September 2006, with the purpose of supporting the strengthening of the health system, through the Essential Services for Health (ESH) project.
Based in the provinces of Huambo, Luanda and Lunda Norte, ESH project deals with malaria, tuberculosis, sexual and reproductive health, family planning and hiv, particularly in staff training for better services.
In central Huambo province, the ESH project is assisting 152 health units, distributed in five districts (Huambo, Caála, Londuimbali, Tchicala-Tcholoanga and Bailundo), having already trained 30 trainers.
Thirty four State and private firms are participating at the event, by providing free services to the public.
