Sierra Leone: SLFA Secretary in Fraud

Report reaching Concord Sports yesterday alleged that the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) administrative secretary, Abu Bakar Kabba aka Sweet Kay was to account for US $15,000 from the U-20 trip to Malaysia.

The national U-20 recently competed in the annual Merdeka Cup football tournament in Malaysia in honour of the Malaysian National Day and were given US $45,000 for reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

With pressure from the director of sports for the SLFA to submit their reports on the trip, it was alleged that out of the US $ 45,000 received by Sweet Kay from the competition organizers, he only gave report of US $30,000.

This has angered top members of the SLFA executive including the Vice President I, Joseph Kelfala who led the delegation to Malaysia.

Report indicate that SLFA is considering levying an indefinite suspension upon Sweet Kay if he fail to produce report on the missing US $15,000

"He (Sweet Kay) also deducted US $200 from the US $1,000 given to each player on the grounds of sharing with those players who did not make the trip but he his yet pay the said money to the players," the SLFA insider said.

The insider further noted that these were some of the difficulties Nahim Khadi faced during his first term but added that they would not tolerate such things this time round.

However, all attempts to contact Sweet Kay proved futile.
