Lagos — A 77-year-old woman, Mrs. Rosaline Ebunola Aiyegbusi was yesterday arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Yaba for allegedly forging power of attorney of a house for 15 years belonging to Mrs. Davies Morenike.
Aiyegbusi was dragged to court by the Police on a two-count charge which she pleaded not guilty to the said allegation.
The house, which is located at Nos. 38/38A/38B Raymond Njoku Street, S/West Ikoyi, while the defendant was arrested shortly after investigations by the police after 15 years.
According to the charge, she had on February 1, 1988 at Lagos conspired together to commit felony to wit: forgery which is an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C17, Vol.2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.
Aiyegbusi and others at large at the same place, date and time forged a power of attorney of Mrs. Davies Morenike with her signature knowing it was false of which she acted was genuine. This is an offence punishable under section 467 of the Criminal Code Cap C17, Vol.2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Ikpat granted her bail with the sum of N200, 000 with two responsible sureties. She also adjourned till December 8, for trial of the case.
