Consequent upon the lamentations from residents of Lugbe Zone 'B' that they lack electricity, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has awarded contract for the installation and extension of electricity to the area at the tune of N3,005,560.00.
This was disclosed by the Supervisory Councillor for Special Duties, Hon. Emmanuel Inyang, during a press briefing yesterday at the council secretariat.
According to Inyang, the development was coming at the heels of council's decision to ensure that communities within the municipality enjoyed the dividends of democracy in line with President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's seven-point agenda.
He said other communities that would benefit from the project include Keffi village, Jayi village, Kugbo II and Kadu Kuchi village.
Speaking further, the supervisory councillor disclosed that the council had also commenced the renovation of Huluri PHC, Orozo PHC, Piwoyi PHC and Kabusa PHC.
Hon. Inyang said council had approved the construction of chalets for doctors working with AMAC Primary Health Centres.
This, he said, is to ensure that doctors live within reach of patients.
