The Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) has initiated Abuja Business plan competition in collaboration with Irwin Associates and Grayson Velvet Project with the support of First Bank, WebAlive and Central Bank of Nigeria, to enable large businesses to interact with small businesses.
The competition started with 35 business plans but only 10 made it to the final stage with Mrs Shonoiki Saidat as the winner.
Speaking at the event, Mr Sani Ahmad of Web Alive, advised young enterpreneurs to be focused while going about their businesses, adding that they should set goals and ensure they achieve it.
Ahmad also called on small scale businesses to identify with AEA as this would help them achieve their set goals. He said through enterpreneurship, things can get better for the country .
The Executive Director of the AEA, Ms Altine Jubril, advised everyone to take the message of enterpreneurship to all stakeholders across the country.
She said if the youths are empowered or advised to go into enterprenurship, the issue of unemployment would be a thing of the past.
AEA boss called on all stakeholders to join hands with the agency in spreading this message of enterpreneurship.
Appreciating the organisers of the First Abuja Business Plan competition, the winner of the competition, Mrs Shonoiki Saidat, said SME was a tool to achieving the Millinieum Development Goals (MDG's) and vision 2020.
She said Nigeria can become great if everyone was willing to contribute his/her quota to the development of the nation.
Shonoiki commended the AEA and First Bank for giving small scale business a face lift in Nigeria. The winner of the competition went home with one million naira (N1 ,000,000) while the 1st and 2nd runners - up went home with N500,000 and N300,000 respectively.
The maiden edition which took place over the weekend at the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) was meant to be an annual event..
