Nigeria: Education Secretariat to Hold Summit

The FCT Education Secretariat will hold its 2008 Education Summit and Award ceremony between December 15 and 16 as part of its activities for the year.

According to the Chairman Planning Committee, Alhaji Ari Isa Mohammed, the summit will provide a forum for stakeholders in the Education sector to deliberate on a variety of educational issues, take stock of achievements, identify constraints and chart the way forward.

It is also expected to re-invigorate education management in the Federal Capital Territory and refocus FCT within the current national and international education realities.

At the meeting of the summit committee with stakeholders yesterday at the Education Resource Centre, the Secretary for Education and convener of the summit, Alhaji Hussaini Halilu Pai, called on stakeholders to join hands with the secretariat to ensure a successful summit. He emphasised the need to take the educational system in Nigeria to greater heights.

The brainstorming session which had representatives from the Zenith Bank Plc, FinBank Plc, Intercontinental Bank, Agency for Mass Education, ANCOPSS, private schools and other stakeholders in the education sector, was among others to ensure a successful award ceremony.
