Nigeria: Rep Assures On the Rehabiliation of Gombe-Yola Road

Abuja — The lawmaker representing Song/Fufore federal constituency in Adamawa State, Honorable Aminu Ribadu, has disclosed that the Federal Government is poised to meet the yearings and aspirations of the masses through human and infrastructural development.

Ribadu made this disclosure in a chat with journalists, saying that it was in this vain that the Federal Government had started the road linking Bauchi, Gombe and Yola which had been in a horrible condition, adding that the project had been included in the 2008 budget and contractors had been mobilised.

He further stated that the terrible condition of the road has hindered the socio-economic development of the area as many businessmen could not pligh the road to transact business .

'You know Gombe-Yola road is the worst road in the whole federation; this has made we legislators from the north-eastern zone to ensure that the road project was included in the 2008 budget. Our major concern is to ensure that the road is rehabilitated' he said.

The honorable, however, disclosed that the major agricultural development which would have occurred in the area was hindered by the bad road, because most equipment that could have been used for the seasonal crops were delayed due to the fact that the road was unmotorable, especially during the rainy season.
