Nigeria: Benue Govt to Clampdown On Illegal Oil Operators

Makurdi — Dubious operators in the oil and gas industry in Benue State will no longer enjoy their greener pasture as the state government is set to clamp down on such operations.

Special adviser to the governor on public utilities, Chief Agbo Madaki, who dropped the hint in Makurdi during a meeting with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Benue state branch, expressed government displeasure over the involvement of some marketers in the unwholesome practices, and warned them to desist or face the wrath of the law.

He unveiled government plans to ensure free flow of of the product during the forthcoming festivities and advised members of the public to avoid panic buying.

Remarking on the leadership crisis that is locking the state branch of IPMAN, Chief Madaki charged stakeholders to maintain peace in the association and to allow the present leadership to continue till they completed their tenure.

Also, the district head of Mbaasombo Chief Clement Kunde assured of his co-operation to enable IPMAN attain its goals and charged his subjects to ensure security of the Makurdi depot.
