Abuja — Director of Multilateral Surveillance of the ECOWAS Commission, Lasane Kabore, has appealed to members of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) and other organisations within the region to be open and objective in their approach to issues to enhance development of the sub-region.

He made the appeal on Monday at the opening of the 17th ordinary joint meeting of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of WAMA in Abuja.

Kabore, who was represented by Nelson Magbagbeola, observed that with an objective, transparent and sincere disposition to deliberations at meetings, recommendations to the committee of governors and thereafter to the convergence council, shall be of tremendous value to the integration process.

He said "ECOWAS as a community has a vision known as vision 2020; the vision is that of moving from an ECOWAS of states to an ECOWAS of peoples through the creation of a single economic space in which the people transact business and live in dignity and peace under the rule of law and good governance."

Kabore urged members not to relent, pointing out that they cannot afford to betray the confidence reposed in them or fail.
