Nigeria: Okokomaiko, PPL Residents Still At the Mercy of Cultists

17 November 2008

For residents of Okokomaiko and PLL along Lagos-Badagry Express road, there seems to be no respite in sight in the hands of criminals tormenting them. They are now sleeping with one eye closed.

This is because suspected cultists have taken over the area perpetrating all sorts of crimes. Worst hit in this situation are people living around Oluwalopeye Street. Many families are in complete dilemma on whether to continue co-habiting with the cultists since they have turned the street into their base. They fear that apart from the insecurity created by these dangerous youths, they risk exposing their children to the unholy lifestyle of the cultists who give no damn about the people living in the community.

As result of this double-edged risk, the residents have made an urgent call to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Marvel Akpoyibo, to save them by dispatching his men to the help flush out the cultists before they destroy the lives of the young ones.

These youth cults have turned themselves into law, as they do all sorts of things freely as if they are above the law.
