Abuja — The Albino Foundation in Nigeria has condemned, in strong language, the killing of albinos in Tanzania for ritual purposes while calling for a more drastic action to protect them.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP SUNDAY in an exclusive interview, the founder/CEO of the Albino foundation (Nigeria), Mr. Jake Epelle, disclosed that a five-point agenda had been submitted to the Tanzanian High Commissioner to Nigeria to express their dissatisfaction with the practice and called for a more drastic action to protect albinos.
Contrary to the belief that the practice of using albinos for ritual purpose is only in Tanzania, Mr. Epelle said the practice exist in Nigeria, too.
"I was a victim, too. There was a time I boarded a car and, along the way before we got to my destination, the driver started behaving funny and I shouted on top of my voice and that was how the driver threw me out and drove away.
Also, there was a case of an albino, a secondary school student who narrowly escaped being kidnapped." Jake said.
"And it is to this end that I want to call on albinos to be careful while boarding taxis. And, in the event that while on transit they notice any unusual diversion, they should shout on top of their voices," Mr. Jake counselled.
Meanwhile, the five-point-agenda sent to the Tanzania government includes: To lead a delegation of Albinism associations in Africa and the world to Tanzania in order to create awareness about albinism.
To partner with the government of Tanziania, international development organisations and other non-governmental organisations are to raise funds to rehabilitate albinos in Tanzania, etc.

Oh! Tanzanians, you are destroying that which the Almighty Allah has created and put Life in just as you who are not Albinos. It's better to die poor and be blessed by Allah than to die with the blood of human beings on your hands which may send you into Hell Fire. Tanzanians, please stop this cannibalism. You are God fearing people. Stop! Stop!! Stop!!!
