Kaduna — As part of their social responsibilities and contribution to empower Nigerian youths through sporting activities, First Bank Nigeria PLC has said it has spent over one hundred million naira to support sporting activities across the country.
Business Development Manager, Gimba Hassan Ibrahim of First Bank Nigeria Plc, Kaduna branch confirmed this during a briefing with sports writers in Kaduna.
Gimba said that with passion, the bank has committed itself into various sporting activities making them huge supporters of sports development. He said it is this drive that has seen them become proud associates of Kaduna Polo Tournament apart from other interests in games like football and basketball which the bank owns.
The manager added that the Bank also sponsors sports like Golf, table tennis and some other grassroots sports development programs in the country as part of their social responsibilities. He revealed that they're not doing all these in other to benefit in monetary terms from the sponsorship but to foster interaction with people as a business outfit so as to bring them closer to the Bank.
"First Bank is proudly associating itself with not only Kaduna Polo but with all sporting activities. This is why last year, the Bank spent over one hundred million naira in supporting sporting activities in the country. This Bank has football and basketball teams," Ibrahim confirmed.
The manager further revealed that the Bank is planning to come up with new development initiatives in the area of sponsoring the Kaduna Polo tournament whenever the organisers of the event request. He added that with the kind of prominent people Kaduna Polo club have, they are confident that their five million naira donation this year will be spent as promised.
