Uganda: Embrace Family Planning, Religious Leaders Told

Kampala — The Reproductive Health Uganda has been urged to sensitise religious sects opposed to family planning. Bushenyi district chairman Longino Ndyanabo said some religions had to change their attitude towards family planning.

He said while the Government advises families to practise family planning, some religions decompaigned it using the Bible.

"They are using the Bible to tell people to go and produce and that God will provide for them. Yet we are saying produce the children you can look after and educate. What will God provide and how?" Ndyanabo said.

He was speaking at a one-day review meeting for the Young Men as Equal Partners programme at Crane Resort Hotel in Bushenyi district on Monday.

"We need to bring the religious people on board," Ndyanabo advised. He also called upon men to change their attitude towards family planning, saying the majority viewed the practice as a woman's responsibility.

Jackson Chekweko, the national coordinator, blamed the high maternal mortality rate, low use of contraceptives, spread of sexually transmitted infections and early pregnancies on men.

Bushenyi branch manager Stephen Karamuzi said: "In Africa, men still hold powerful roles in decision making especially in their families. They determine when to have sex and the type of sex."

The article shows a rather silly effort by "Reproductive Health Uganda", the Uganda arm of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) [ see http://www.ippf.org/en/What-we-do/Advocacy/IPPF+advocacy+leads+to+increase+ in+reproductive+health+supplies.htm ] to get religious adherents to exchange their beliefs for acceptance of the radical feminist male hatred platform and for acceptance of killing unborn babies and the other so-called "family planning" activities that IPPF supports. This was the same strategy deployed by the US Planned Parenthood arm of IPPF during the 1960s and 1970s in the US that brought about a court decision resulting in the deaths of millions of unborn American babies. The US Planned Parenthood was founded by infamous racist Margaret Sanger, who worked to exterminate through abortion all the so-called "inferior" races. Don't cooperate with Reproductive Health Uganda.
