The Senate has directed its Committees on Ethics and Privileges and National Security and Intelligence to investigate alleged assault on Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello (PDP, Ogun Central) by an officer of the State Security Service (SSS).

The resolution came after Senator Obasanjo-Bello narrated her ordeal in the hands of a security detail attached to Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State while attending a function at a church in Oyo State recently. In her complaint, the senator told her colleagues that the SSS agent had pushed her violently while she was dancing behind the governor inside a church at a function they both attended. According to her, "I was invited to a function which I attended and I sat right behind the Governor. When the thanks-giving was going on, I stood up and was dancing praising the Lord, the security agent just came and pushed my hand and said that I was trying to touch the governor's head. What I now did was to push him. We must check this kind of harassment on people particularly women by our security men. That was how a young lady was recently brutalised in Lagos. I was only dancing, is it an offence to dance behind a governor in Nigeria?" Apparently angered by the situation, Senator Lee Maeba (PDP, Rivers) said it is time state governors are made to respect senators from their states adding, "This is a serious matter, wherever you go people don't respect senators. Mr. President you have to convene a meeting between all the thirty six state governors and all the senators so that such issues would be resolved."

Just like her father, Mrs. Obasanjo Bello has no shame.Obasanjo Bello and the father are two sides of the same coin, arrogant, disrespectful, and shameless. It is good to give praises to the lord, but we have to do that in the manner that will not make us look like the common motor park tout. This is exactly the type of people that constitute the Nigerian senate as was made possible by Gen. Obasanjo who want Nigeria to remain redundant forever. Thanks to the governor for the mature way he handled the matter, it should have been chaos in the house… [Read Full Text]
