Jos — The current drive by First Bank Plc, to improve investments in the agricultural sector in Plateau state through the offer of credit instruments to farmers has not been hampered by the N1 billion already sourced from the bank by farmers as the facility is still open for access.
Business Development Manager of First Bank, Mallam Sani Bala Tanko, who disclosed this at the "big splash promo" held by the bank over the weekend said the bank is interested in boosting agriculture in Nigeria and has kept the instrument open so that more farmers and other investors could benefit.
Mallam Sani had earlier explained that the bank made financial instruments available to the farmers and other investors in the agricultural sectors which has been subscribed to the tune of over N1 billion.
He said under the current promo, the bank is rewarding new and existing customers who increased their saving account deposits by N25,000 every month, adding that First Bank is the first to introduce such in the banking industry in Nigeria.
The business manager stressed that the aim of the promo is to step up the bank's business activities and create awareness so as to get more deposits from customers to stimulate the Nigerian economy.
He said after the consolidation, federal government has created a level playing field, which has made it imperative for banks to be innovative to survive in the industry and urged the bank's customers to avail themselves of the opportunity to participate in the promo by increasing their deposits between now and the end of the year.
The bank held a road show to inform members of the public of the promo which saw staff of the bank moving in a motorcade accompanied by musicians to the certain parts of Jos.
