A 29- year- old gardener was yesterday arraigned before an Abuja magistrate court over allegations of breach of trust and theft. The accused, Godwin Ring, was charged for abandoning a job assigned to him by one Amina Muhammed and also stealing a canopy from the lady's compound.

Court Registrar, Mr Tijani Ahmed told the court that the complainant reported a case of breach of trust and theft against the accused person.

According to the registrar, "On October 24, the complainant gave the accused person a job to weed grasses around her shop and paid the accused N1,000 for the services.

He said the complainant refused to do the job, adding that when the complainant arrived the following Sunday, she discovered that the accused had also stolen a canopy from the area.

"The canopy is valued at N38, 000," the registrar added.

When the charges were read to the accused, he denied them and requested for bail.

Prosecutor Albert Okara did not challenge the bail application but applied for a hearing date.

Magistrate Ahmed Ndajuwo granted the accused bail in the sum of N40, 000 and a reasonable surety that must reside within the court's jurisdiction.

The magistrate also ordered that the surety's residence must be disclosed to the prosecutor.

The case was adjourned to November 19 for hearing.
