Nigeria: Gusau Biz School to Run Post Graduate Courses

Gusau — Plans are underway to run Masters degree programme masters' programmes at the Gusau Business School, Zamfara State. Director-General of the School, Alh. Samaila Hussaini Moriki, who briefed the press on its activities, said already the School had been given the right to run masters degree programme in business related disciplines by the Imo State University.

According to him, registration for the programme is restricted only to members of the Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA) and student-registered members.

Moriki said the School ,which was created five years ago was established to relieve the burden faced by students from Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi States from traveling far as Lagos to acquire professional certificates.

Over the years, the Director General said the school had provided training for more than 1,000 Professionals in business related disciplines.

"Our school is a study centre for those who want to acquire the Chartered Institute of Taxation Certificate , Chartered Institute of Bankers Certificate, Nigeria Institute of Management Certificate, as well as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria Certificate."

He implored residents of Gusau and its environs to make use of the opportunity provided by the College to update their knowledge.

In another development, Governor Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi of Zamfara state has approved the appointment of Muhammad Kabir Dankande as the new Provost of the State College of Education, Maru. He also approved the appointment of Dr Bello Umar Gusau as Deputy Provost of the College.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Education Alhaji Bashir Madaro and made available to journalists in Gusau said the appointment of the new Provost followed the retirement of the former provost, Alhaji Ibrahim Maru.

Until his new appointment, Dankande was the Deputy Provost of the Institution, while Bello was the Director Planning of the State Science and Technical Education Board. The two appointments took effect from November 6, 2008.
