Uganda: Respect the Law, Urges Makubuya

Kampala — JUSTICE and constitutional affairs minister Dr. Khiddu Makubuya has advised MPs and the public to respect the law.

Makubuya was last week opening a two-day induction for 36 state attorneys at Ridar Hotel in Seeta, Mukono.

He cited the example of Kampala Central MPâ-àErias Lukwago who he said has on several occasions landed into trouble for failing to respect the Police.

Makubuya called upon the the state attorneys to make informed decisions backed by correct interpretation of the law. He also advised them to save for retirement.

"Start saving now so that when you retire, you will have an investment to start up any income-generating project. You have all the time to save a little from your salary," he said.

Makubuya also cautioned the attorneys against HIV/AIDs.

  • Attorney General Cheerleading the Dictatorship
    Nov 19 2008, 17:41

This Attorney General is a disgrace to the law profession. Under normal governments the MPs should be grilling the AG not the other way around as this AG's perverted view has it.

The AG job is to uphold the law(s) which the MPs the legislators, the true law makers make.

This AG got it all backwards, but of course if the AG is just a cheerleader of the dictator, the real law unto himself what does the AG of this ilk care about.
