Kampala — PHILLIP Obwiny is confident Nalubaale possess the necessary ammunition to challenge the top sides for league glory this season.
"We have a committed, focused and determined set of players with belief that anything is possible this season. My experience in Ugandan football tells me we could be that surprise team for the title if we maintain a good run in the second round," he added.
Few would argue with the versatile player, as he is well-qualified to pass judgment on about anything in domestic football.
After all, he has seven league championships and five Kakungulu Cup trophies obtained with Express FC, SC Villa and URA FC.
The 2006 league debutantes, who engage hapless Sharing today at Nakivibo Stadium, are a distant sixth on the table.
The Uganda Super League Committee had decided that fans gain free entry to today's game, which will be recorded on GTV. The move is aimed at attracting soccer fans back to the stadia.
The Buikwe-based club is convinced that the four-point gap that separates them from table leaders Simba will soon vanish.
Nalubaale's season wobbled in the aftermath of Marin Dorian's exit - losing 3-0 to SC Villa and struggling to a goalless home draw with Mbarara. They have since posted significant results against Police (1-0), Express (1-0) before last week's 1-1 home draw with URA FC.
The resurgence is attributed to their defence in which Patrick Waligo and Aziz Mugonza are so far enjoying a good season.
