Lagos — When Sacred Heart College, Apapa opened its doors to its first set of 14 students and six teachers on September 24, 2007, book publishers considered the population too small to supply books, but then, it was the first step and there was no turning back.

Enrolment increased with the number of pioneer students rising to 28 and the school was officially dedicated as a Catholic school on October 15, 2007.

The Administrator, Rev. Sr. Fidelia Alao, who recalled this at the first anniversary celebration at the weekend said "It has been a year of grace, favour, growth, achievement, success and blessing. It was also a year of great challenges, but we witnessed goodwill and encouragement from several quarters."

She said the school is a co-educational college run by Reverend Sisters, with a clear vision to providing high quality education with discipline and development of the mind to cope with societal challenges. It has boarding facilities for girls, while the boys' would be built later. She appealed to parents to assist teachers by providing good moral education to their children and wards at home.
