Vodacom Second Division clubs from the Western Cape teams were the pick of the provinces this weekend, producing many thrills and scoring no fewer than 40 goals.
In fact, Reggie Jantjies' FC Kapstadt and Knysna Bafana were involved in an eight-goal thriller, while fans also witnessed seven goals between Mbekweni Cosmos and Eden Young Blues.
Jantjies' side, in a desperate bid to avoid the drop, beat Knysna Bafana 5-3 away from home and are now just a point behind the Knysna outfit, but four behind Blues who lost 5-2 to Cosmos.
At the top end of the table, Steenberg United continued their winning way, defeating Battswood 1-0 to open up a an eight-point lead over Mr Price Parkhurst, who thrashed bottom-of-the-log Nelsons FC 7-1.
Below Parkhurst, Baltic Rangers, Milano United and Kuilsriver are lurking in the top five.
The North West's Ga-Rankuwa United, which played in the First Division last season, overran Mothupi Birds 5-1 to stay within range of leaders, City of Matlosana United, while in KZN former PSL outfit African Wanderers beat Amajuba United Killers 2-1 to pressurise Island, who lost by the same score.
AmaZulu's development side, Durban Warriors, who are in 11th spot, drew 2-2 with Bush Bucks, who have a mere 7 points from 16 matches.
There is only one point between the top three Free State clubs, Maluti Fet College, United FC and Bloemfontein Young Tigers, who all picked up important wins.
In Gauteng, Highlands Park lost their unbeaten record, going down 4-0 to Abakah FC, however, leaders Lusitano bounced back to winning ways by beating Bidvest Wits' side Bid Boys 3-1.
There was also a seven-goal thriller between Arcadia Shepherds and Yebo Yes FC, which Arcs took 4-3.
Peace Lovers of Limpopo and Mpumalanga's Batau are the only two sides in the entire country without a loss, and in the Eastern Cape, there were wins for the top two sides, Blackburn Rovers and Bush Bucks.
Rovers beat African Juventus 3-0, while Bucks and Manchester United enjoyed an eight-goal thriller with Bucks winning 5-3.
