Ghana striker Junior Agogo has been handed a three-match ban and a $4 000 dollar fine for an obscene gesture he insist he did not make.
The Zamalek forward who has yet to ignite the Egyptian league since his big money move there has been given the punishment for allegedly gesturing impolitely towards fans of Petrojet during an Egyptian League game last Friday.
Though the match referee did not report the incident, the Egyptian Football Association used video evidence to hand down punishment to the player.
It is sure to add to his growing frustration in Egypt after a move that has clearly not gone as he anticipated.
He has denied he made the gesture telling KickOffGhana.com that, "They will realise if they watch they watch the video that I was merely joking with my teammates and we were having a laugh. I don't know where I made an obscene gesture to the fans."
"They clearly saw a different thing."
