Nigeria: Etisalat to Partner With LOC Nigeria 2009

The new entrant into the Telecommunication business in Nigeria, Etisalat has promised to partner with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Nigeria 2009 for the success of FIFA U-17 World Cup Tournament taking place in Nigeria next year.

The Vice-President of the Company, Marketing and Branding, Mr. Wael Ammar who led his team to LOC Secretariat on Tuesday (Nov 18, 2008) made this known while briefing the LOC Management on their mission.

Mr. Ammar said they were in LOC to explore ways of collaborating with the LOC for Sponsorship of the tournament for the benefit of the people of Nigeria.

"We are a new brand like the LOC; hence we want to bring our expertise to bear on the successful organization of the tournament. We are a tested brand having been in existence in UAE for more than 17 years. It is only in Nigeria that we are new" the Vice-President said.

Among other reasons Mr. Ammar said, Etisalat would want to associate with LOC was that the age group tournament has been the most successful competition where Nigeria competed excellently in the World.

Speaking in line with the Vice-President, Etisalat Director of Marketing and Branding, Mr. Yinka Akande implored LOC to consider partnering with Etisalat in view of unifying role sports and football in particular play whenever Nigeria is engaged in any international Championship.

Responding to Etisalat request, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LOC, Mr. Mainasara Illo thanked them for finding the LOC worthy of being associated with and promised Etisalat their request would be looked into. On the Etisalat visiting team were top management staff as well as members of the LOC management.
