Abuja — Nigeria's Super Falcons will this afternoon in far away Malabo, try to redeem their hope of reaching the last four of the ongoing 6th African Women Championship in Equitorial Guinea when they take on Tunisia today, after playing 1-1 draw with perennial rivals, Black Queens of Ghana in their first group match on Sunday.
The five-time African champions are highly tipped to retain the title for a record sixth time, but their lacklustre performance against Ghana on Sunday has opened several question on their ability to lift the trophy in Malabo even as the team handler, Jossy Lad has promised to play more attacking when they file out against the North African opposition today.
Super Falcons had never lost to any African opposition in both FIFA and CAF organised competitions, but waited until last minute equaliser from Ifeanyi Chiejine kept their unbeaten record against Ghana on Sunday.
The Bayana-Bayana of South Africa are currently leading the group with three points after beating Tunisia in their opening match and Super Falcons will need to avoid a defeat to Tunisia today to qualify for the semi-finals of the eight-nation tournament.
