Nigeria: Senate Confirms Shonekan As ICRC Boss

THE Senate yesterday confirmed former head of Interim National Government (ING), Chief Ernest Shonekan as Chairman of Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

Also yesterday, the Senate further confirmed the seven other nominees beside Chief Shonekan that it received from President Umaru Yar'Adua as members of Board of the ICRC.

The nominees were confirmed based on the reports of the Senator Julius Ucha-led Committee on Works, which had duly screened all the nominees four weeks ago at the National Assembly.

President of the Senate, Chief David Mark while confirming the nominees as Chairman and members of the ICRC respectively urged them to deliver on the government's promises of bridging the infrastructural gap between Nigeria and the rest of the world.

He said, "The following are hereby confirmed by this distinguished Senate as Chairman and members of Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission."

Those confirmed as members of the board of ICRC by the Upper Legislative Chamber and the geo-political zones they represents are Hakeem Sanusi, member South-West, Mansur Ahmed, member ng North-West, Bernard Verr, Member North-Central.

Others include Clement Owunna, member representing South-East, Comfort Sera Wiwa, member representing South-South, Joe Kyari-Gadzama, member representing North-East and Aisha Shiekh, member representing North-West.
