Bay United coach Vladislav Heric has tendered his resignation with immediate effect, citing interference from management.
Heric maintains that the club want a board member to have technical input into the team.
Owen da Gama is rumoured to be on his way to the Premiership rookies.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper coach Pernell McKop has been appointed the interim head coach.
"I have resigned with effect from today," Heric tells KickOff.com.
The Serbian coach says he could not accept management interfering in his duties.
"According to my contract, I must give three-months notice prior to stepping down, but the club said there is no need for me to complete that notice. So I am not the Bay United coach anymore.
"After 20 months away from my children, I feel I need to go back and see my family in Serbia for a while after which I will look for a new job.
"There was no way I was going to accept what they wanted to impose. They said a board member will provide technical input and also select the line-up, but I couldn't take that because that is clearly interference.
"According to football coaching ethics, I couldn't accept such an arrangement because it would mean that the work that my technical team and I put in would be useless as someone else will have the power to select the team. So I have resigned," says Heric who steered the team to promotion last season.
Bay United are currently in 14th position with just two wins in eight games.
