Nigerian Kid Signs for Everton

A Nigerian youngster, Hope Akpan has signed a professional contract with English Premier League side, Everton.

Hope has been on Everton's books for a number of years, and the Childwall-born midfielder has been a regular in the Academy side since being given his debut against Liverpool at the age of 15.

After appearing frequently for the under 16s, Hope has graduated to the under 18 side this season.

He told Everton TV that he is delighted to have signed a professional deal.

"I found out about a month ago when [Academy manager] Ray Hall had a quiet word with me. I was in shock and couldn't believe it but I'm made up.

"I'm delighted to have signed the deal," Akpan told evertonTV.
