Angola: Bie Governor Calls for People's Cooperation

Kuito — Angola's central Bie province governor, Cândida Celeste da Silva, Tuesday in Kuito, appealed to the in habitants of Katabola district to cooperate with the local Government in the implementation of social projects.

Cândida Celeste made the appeal at a ceremony for her introduction as the new provincial governor to the population of Katabola.

On the occasion, Katabola administrator, Gabriel Hinse, welcomed the governor and expressed his readiness to cooperate for the improvement of the population's living.

The governor recommended the traditional and church authorities to reinforce the awareness work with the population of Katabola, with a view to better sanitation of the communities.

She announced that the Government will in 2009 rehabilitate roads and build shops and other facilities to improve trade between the rural area and the city.

katabola is 52 kilometres to the east of the provincial capital, Kuito. It is comprised of the communes of Chipeta, Caiuera, Sande, Chiuca and Katabola. Its population is estimated at 181,825 inhabitants, mostly peasants.
