The Abia Democratic Alliance (ADA), a socio-political group based in Umuahia, has petitioned the Justices of the Court of Appeal, warning that any further delay in determining the appeal on the state's governorship election case would plunge the state into deeper economic and political crises.
The group also called on the judges to dispense justice on the matter without further delay.
President of the group, Mr. Ndudim Uwakwe in a statement, warned "that any attempt by any party involved in the case to further introduce time wasting tactics either by way of frivolous motions or application for adjournment would seriously erode the confidence Abians have for the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt."
Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State is in the appeal before the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, challenging the judgment of the state Election Petition Tribunal which on February 25, 2008, nullified his election and ordered that Chief Onyema Ugochukwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) be sworn-in with immediate effect as the governor of the state.
