Nigeria: Fashola, Eaglets' Stars for Late Tella's Anniversary

20 November 2008

Members of the all conquering Golden Eaglets and the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola have expressed willingness to add more glamour to their late coach Theophilus Adeyemi Tella's one year anniversary billed to take place at the Baptist Church, Moloney, Lagos Island on November 30.

Widow of the late coach, Mrs Christiana Modupe Tella stated that the one year anniversary in honour of her late husband promises to be a befitting one as letters of invitation have been sent to Nigerians who have stood by the family since the demise of the late coach.

"We appreciate the prayers showered on us by Nigerians during the trying times and we also want to use this opportunity to thank them for being there for us.

"We have invited the Lagos State Governor, members of the Eaglets team to South Korea, the National Sports Commission, the Nigeria Football Federation board members and they have promised to be present at the epoch making event," said the Lagos State Hockey handler.

It will be recalled that late Tella died at the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital on October 20 last year after a long battle with cancer and was committed to mother earth at the Vault and Gardens Cemetery on Lagos Island.
