Kampala — THE First Lady, Janet Museveni, on Tuesday held talks with the visiting chief minister of Gujarati city in India, Modi Narendra.
The talks were held at State House Nakasero in Kampala.
Narendra was accompanied by Ugandan and Indian entrepreneurs, Uganda's trade state minister Nelson Gagawala and Uganda's high commissioner to India Nimisha Madhvani. Niraj Srivastava, India's high commissioner, attended.
The two discussed development issues, health and education, public and private partnerships.
On education, according to a State House statement, Narendra offered scholarships to Ugandan students to the agriculture institute in Gujarat.
Janet also hosted the President of World Help, Vernon Brewer.
World Help, which was founded in 1991, is a non-profit Christian charity.
The First Lady and her guests, accompanied by Apostle Alex Mitala, discussed problems faced by disadvantaged children in Uganda.
A State House press release said they they discussed ways of supporting of orphans and the girl-child.
Brewer told Janet that his organisation had built a vocational school in the northern region.
He said 200 children in Lira district and another 200 in Pader district were also receiving support from the organisation.
