Luanda — Angola will attend the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Strategy Forum the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), set for November 26-27 in Malawi.
The information is contained in a note from the Office of Development of Mean Kwanza (Gamek) that reached Angop Wednesday.
According to the source, Angola will be represented to the meeting by a delegation headed by the member of the Zambezi Commission, Association of Environmental Activists of Southern Africa and head of Gamek Department of Planning and Environment, Rafael Miguel Neto.
At the meeting, the Angolan delegation will tackle mainly the programme of protection of water resources, the quality of water and aquatic ecosystems and the integrated management of water resources from the Zambezi river basin.
The Forum whose theme is "Championing effective IWRM in the Zambezi River Basin" will this year focus on the IWRM Strategy.
The main issue that the Forum will look at is how the Riparian States and all the other stakeholders can operationalize this Strategy and its Implementation Plan to realize the goal of sustainable utilization of the Zambezi River Basin resources.
The Zambezi Commission groups Angola Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
