Angola: Luanda City Prize Registration Opens

Luanda — Registration for "Premio Cidade de Luanda" contest in the categories of plastic arts, song, dance, literature and theatre, have opened here, to celebrate the foundation of Angola's capital city on January 25.

According to a note from the Luanda Government (GPL), signed by the governor, Francisca do Espírito Santo, that reached Angop Wednesday, the registration for the plastic arts will remain open until January 15, 2009.

Enrolments for song, dance, literature and theatre, according to the source, will go until December 20 this year.

The prize for the song category will take the equivalent to Usd 26,000. The first placed will take Usd 10,000 and 7,000 will go for the second. Usd 1,250 will go for the best interpretation, 1,500 for the best letter and 1,250 for the best voice.

Theatre will take Usd 24,500. The first placed will take 10,000, second will take 7,000 while 5,000 will go for the third of the contest. Best representation will take 1,000, best actor, actress and text will take usd 500,00.

Usd 20,000have been set aside for plastic arts prize, covering painting, sculpture, engraving and weaving, each taking 5,000, reads the note.

Dance will absorb a total of Usd 24,000 of which 10,000 will go for traditional style, 7,000 for popular and another 7,000 for artistic style.

Literature will take Usd 20,000, shared by prose and poetry.

The Luanda City Prize was launched by the provincial Government with the purpose of promoting the knowledge of relevant aspects of the habits and customs of Luanda inhabitants.
