Luanda — The political parties that attained less than 0,5 percent of the valid votes from the legislative election of September 5 this year might be declared extinguished, according to the Electoral Law.
This was said Wednesday in Luanda by the attorney general, João Maria de Sousa, at a press conference.
According to the magistrate, his department Tuesday lodged with the Constitutional Court a formal action on the issue, involving 22 political parties, five of which stood on their own, while the others appeared as coalitions.
The list includes the parties PLD, PADEPA, PAJOCA, PRD and FPD that stood as singular organisations. FOFAC, PACOPO, PDT PRESA/PJSD and FNDDA were some of the coalitions that included UDA, PAL, MDIA/ PCN, PNEA, CNDA and AD-Coligação.
AND, PNIA, PAUDP, PCDP, USD, PCSA, MDA and CDS that formed the coalition PPE.
On the occasion, the attorney said that the extinction of any political party can only take place through judicial means, adding that any other way will be "pure manoeuvre".
He stated Constitutional Court ruling on the issue will not be subject to appeal, adding, however, that the leaders and members of so disabled organisations are free to form new parties, with different acronyms.
