Rwanda: Rwandans in Boston Vow to Die for Rose Kabuye

20 November 2008

Kigali — Rwandans and friends of Rwanda living in Boston State of the United States of America have expressed their anger at the recent arrest of the Director of State Protocol Rose Kabuye.

A statement issued by the Rwandan community there partly, " expressing our anger and readiness to die for our freedom in the fight against the negative agenda of France on Rwanda, the demonstration made clear our uncompromising stance towards the French and German policies, including a call for the release of Col. Kabuye and the unilateral halt of supporting Interahamwe and Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR)."

The statement also revealed that there was a big turn up for the Friday demonstrations against the aggression and hypocrisy of France and Germany towards Rwanda.

"With a sizable turnout from the Boston community and friends of Rwanda in USA, it was really pleasing to see so many people, especially given the busy schedule and limited time, who had only three days to organise it, turning up," the statement further reads.

The demonstrations took place right in front of the French and German consulates. The peaceful protesters managed to get access to the French public affairs attaché and demanded that France stop its subversive political tactics regarding Rwandan affairs, specifically the arrest of Rose Kabuye.

"Hundreds of angry but peaceful protesters matched with Rwandan flags flying high while a crowd of bystanders formed, eager to listen to us and ask questions," the statement reveals of the day's event.

The Boston statement also reads: "It was really good to see so many people from such a wide range of backgrounds and "sympathies" rallying together to voice their outrage at what is so obviously an unjustifiable injustice of France and Germany."

More action in solidarity with all Rwandans in USA, Canada and Europe are planned over the upcoming weeks.
