Nigeria: AWC - Falcons Box Themselves In

19 November 2008

Lagos — After failing to defeat Tunisia in their second match of the Africa Women Championship going on Tunisia, the female national football team, Super Falcons are starring down the barrel of the gun and could be eliminated in the first round of a tournament which every single edition since it was inaugurated they have won.

Yesterday afternoon in Accra, they played to a dreary goalless against the Tunisian side that was as uninspiring as they were.

The match was characterised by uncompleted passes and had a standard that is very much lower to the one the Nigeria side used to be known for.

After forcing the host team to a 1-1 draw in the opening match of the group, they will now need to beat South Afria in the last to be sure of the ticket to the second round. Already, South Africa's Banyana Banyana have defeated Tunisia 2-1 in their opening match.
