Abuja — FC Abuja Chief Coach, Abdullahi Mekaba, still basking in the euphoria of his side's first win against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi on Sunday in the weeks ten encounter of the Globacom Premier League, has appealed to sponsors of the team, (EFCC) to do more for the boys to enable them achieve more results in their quest to avoid relegation at the end of the season.

Speaking to Leadership Sports on Wednesday, the coach said contrary to the earlier reports that the players were being owed 10% of salaries and allowances, the team management have paid the players all their salaries up to October last month without owing them any Kobo. "The players have been paid all their salaries up to last month (October) and their last year's sign-on fees have also been paid. Reports that FC Abuja management is owing the boys backlog of salaries is not true.

"What we are asking our sponsors to do is to pay this year's sign-on fees to enable the boys do more for the club. We appreciate EFCC's effort and their support and assure you that we will not disappoint them," he said.

FC Abuja is currently occupying second bottom position of the 10-week old league table after losing five matches, drawing four with only a victory out of matches played so far.
