Nigeria: Heartland Stars Savour Good Form

20 November 2008

Heartland FC midfielders, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu and Uche Agba believe the team's new found form is capable of catapulting them to the top at the end of season.

The Owerri side humiliated Nasarawa United 3-0 in Lafia last weekend, the biggest away win of the season and Ibenegbu, who was one of the scorers, says keeping that kind of form will be crucial to their title ambitions.

"If we maintain this form, we would definitely achieve our aim (of winning the league title). I'm glad we have many quality players who can do this job. The only way to win the trophy is to play all our matches as if we are playing at home," he said.

Agba was coach Kelechi Emeteole's option to keep the midfield under control once Heartland went into the lead at Nasarawa and he too believes there is a new spirit within Heartland.

"Now, we have good team spirit. We understand ourselves better than we did before and I think that will lead us high," Agba said.

The Naze millionaires will travel to Akure this weekend to face Sunshine Stars and the duo are praying for a repeat of the Nasarawa feat.
