Luanda — The national director for copyrights and similar, Pinto Baptista, on Wednesday in Luanda advised Angolan artists to get the habit of registering their creative works in the competent institutions of the State, as a way of protecting their rights against others.
The official defended this position when delivering a lecture on "Copyright", at Liga Africana civic centre, as part of a seminar on management, administration of cultural industries and institutions.
He stated that the authors of a book, music piece or other work have a moral right and a patrimonial right that will only be well protected once they register their artistic creation at the National Department of Copyright Issues and Similar, in the case of Luanda or at culture provincial departments.
Participants at this two-day seminar, promoted by the Culture Ministry, will get information related to the elaboration of cultural projects, management of cultural institutions, cultural legislation, among others.
