Ekiti — The Governor of Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni has called on contractors handling various public buildings and projects in the state to increase their pace of work, saying the March 2009 completion deadline on all the projects must be met.
Oni who gave the order while inspecting the new State House of Assembly Complex construction and other public building projects in the state however commended the quality of work done by some of the contractors.
He said the contractors should double efforts to meet the deadline for the completion of the various projects.
The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to the institutionalization of quality and prompt service delivery in governance in all government projects in the state. He said: "I am impressed by the quality of work done by some of the contractors, but they should increase the tempo by which they work daily so that they can deliver the projects on time."
Speaking during the inspection, the deputy Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeoti Salic, said the level of work done at the new House of Assembly Complex was impressive.
"I am impressed by the level of work done and I hope the complex will be completed on schedule and by the time this building is completed, Ekiti people will be proud to say that they have one of the best House of Assembly Complex in Nigeria," Salic stated.
The governor also visited the state's secretariat building under construction and the new theatre and intensive care unit of the teaching hospital undergoing reconstruction.
