Kickoff (Cape Town)
20 November 2008
The merry-go-round of coaches continues; the latest reports have it that Winners Park are on verge of losing Boebie Solomons, who is said to have surprised management by handing in his letter of resignation this week.
Solomons will follow on the heels of Sammy Troughton, Innocent Mayoyo and Vladislav Heric, who have all left their respective teams this week.
Solomons, a former Bidvest Wits coach, is said to have cited many reasons that resulted in his resigning; one of them being that he wants to return to Cape Town to be close to his family.
According to sources close to Winners Park, management are set to meet with Solomons late today in a bid to get him to change his decision.
"There may be other reasons for him wanting to leave, but word at the club is that he has always stated that he wants to go back to Cape Town," the source added.
Contacted for confirmation of his plans, Solomons told KickOff.com to call him back after half an hour.
However, his phone has been off the hook since then and he has not returned our calls to his mobile phone.
Meanwhile, former Orlando Pirates midfielder David Makgale is expected to make his debut for Winners Park on Sunday when the Limpopo-based club take on Jomo Cosmos in a First Division Inland Stream fixture at Seshego Stadium.
Makgale has signed a one-year contract.
