The newly appointed President of the University of Liberia, Dr. Emmett Dennis has held discussions in Monrovia with the Visitor to the University, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

During Tuesday's talks, Dr. Dennis thanked the Liberian leader for his preferment as President of the University.

The Former Dean of Rutgers University discussed with the President his plans for the revitalization of the University of Liberia to improve the capacity of the institution.

Dr. Dennis said he looked forward to working with the government and the University family in strengthening the institution and infusing renewed energy and vision in the operation of the nation's highest institution of learning.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Visitor thanked Dr. Dennis for accepting the challenge to contribute his expertise towards the growth and development of the University of Liberia.

President Johnson Sirleaf assured the incoming university President of government's continuous support toward the creation of a more conducive learning environment for students of the institution.

The new University President, who served as dean of Rutgers University in the United States, leaves the country shortly to formerly take leave of the administration of Rutgers, before proceeding to Monrovia to take up his new assignment.

Tuesday's meeting with President Sirleaf was the first since the announcement last week of his appointment as President of the University.

Dr. Dennis succeeds Dr. Al Hassan Conteh, who now serves as Liberia's ambassador the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

I think it is a good starting for the University family. I love to heard such wounderful news. It is my hope that the faculty will give the new President a chance to perform his duties as being assigned to him. It is time that we as Liberian work together to up-lift the University of Liberia.

I was glad to hear appointment of a newly elected President of the university of Liberia.I pray as a Liberian for God to protect him and put all single cash into use,and not to enrich himself and his family.
