Monrovia — The acting Coordinator of Global Call Against Poverty-Liberia (GCAP-L) Christian T. L. Peah has left the country to attend the Africa Campaigners Retreat Forum in Entebbe, Uganda.
The Retreat which is sponsored by the United Nations Millennium Africa Campaign office is expected to start from November 20-24, 2008.
The objectives of the forum are to review campaign progress vis-à-vis the resolutions adopted in 2007 during the last retreat in Mombassa, Kenya, and to share campaign experiences at the continental level with highlights on best practices, challenges and recommendations.
The retreat, among other things, would also discuss and recommend more effective campaign approaches that have direct impact on national policies that promote achievement of the MDGs.
The GCAP acting Coordinator further told The News before departing the country that he would make a PowerPoint presentation on experiences of the 2008 campaign experiences highlighting the nature and composition of his national campaign and partnership during the forum.
He said representatives from at least 16 African countries and other partners across the continent are expected to attend the retreat.
