Lagos — The Skypower Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) has won the contracts to handle more than 93% of this year's Hajj operations.
Out of the total number of 95, 000 Pilgrims expected to perform this year's Hajj, the company will be providing handling services in Passenger, Ramp and Cargo for Kabo Airline in Sokoto 82 flights, Yola 32 flights, Katsina 32 flights and Gombe 32 flights.
SAHCOL will handle a total number of 29,500 Passengers for Med view Airlines in Lagos, Ilorin, Kaduna and Abuja as well as 12,000 Passengers for Meridian Airlines in Minna, Abuja and Kano.
Also to be handled by SAHCOL is IRS (Air Niamey) operating from Abuja, Kano and Maiduguri with a total number of 12,000 Passengers and Hansal Air with the remaining 3,000 Passengers, taking off from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to a statement issued and signed by the company head of Public Communication, Mr. Basil Agboarumi, "as a result, SAHCOL has deployed equipment and men to ensure a hitch free Hajj operation".
He said: "It should be noted that SAHCOL is the unequalled leader in the handling of flight operations to Makkah and Jerusalem".
Meanwhile, the SAHCOL was also nominated and won "the Most Customer Friendly Ground Handling Company of the year 2008" at the just concluded Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV).
The award, he stated was received on behalf of SAHCOL by the Group Head, Maintenance & Cargo, Engr. Okey Ezeilo at the 2nd Nigeria International Air Transport Conference & Exhibition at the FAAN Training Centre, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
