Kampala — THE Media Council has ordered the Red Pepper and Onion newspapers to pay sh5m to Haji Musa Katongole.
Katongole sought redress from the council, following a story written about him entitled 'Taking a look at how Hajji Katongole satisfies his kraal of sexy ladies" published in June.
The publications are also required by the council to "publish an apology to the complainant in similar prominence as the story complained of".
Katongole asked that the editors-in-chief of the newspapers be suspended for three months.
"The committee would like to see the respective editors continue their duties albeit in a more professional touch than all together stop them. In our opinion, this would remove them from the learning process in our young vibrant press," the judgment read.
